David Pacheco has served as the State Conservation Engineer for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in New Mexico, since October 2001.  He is program manager for the agency’s Watershed Operations, Watershed Rehabilitation, and Emergency Watershed Protection programs.  As head of the Engineering Section, David is a member of the State Leadership Team.

He is a registered professional engineer in the state of New Mexico.  David has 23 years of experience with NRCS.  His prior positions include:  Multi-State Design Team Leader, Albuquerque, New Mexico; State Construction Engineer, Jackson, Mississippi; and Project Construction Engineer, Rio Rancho.

David is a native New Mexican.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from New Mexico State University in 1983.  David serves as the NRCS liaison on the steering committee for the New Mexico Watershed Coalition.
