Grant
SWCD Nationally Recognized
The Grant Soil & Water Conservation District received national
recognition by United States Department of Agriculture Under Secretary
Mark Rey when he traveled from Washington, D.C. in conjunction with
Earth Day to acknowledge their leadership in a cooperative conservation
venture in the Gila. The event focused attention on efforts that
overcame political barriers where mixed land ownership could hinder the
process of addressing conservation needs on a landscape or watershed
basis. Under Secretary Rey assured the Grant SWCD he would carry their
success story to Congress as the discussion of the 2007 Farm Bill
progressed.
