Rehabilitating DamsLocal communities, with the assistance of the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), have constructed over 101 dams in New Mexico since 1948 to protect both rural and urban areas from flooding. Many of these dams are nearing the end of their 50-year design life, and it is estimated one-third of these dams in New Mexico are candidates for rehabilitation. This audio slide show takes you through the rehabilitation of the Piedra Liza Dam near Bernalillo, New Mexico. Dam Rehabilitation (PPT)
