Technical Assistance (TA)

The Natural Resources Conservation Service provides technical assistance to district cooperators and other land users in the planning and application of conservation treatments to:

  • control erosion and improve the quantity and quality of soil resources
  • improve and conserve water
  • enhance fish and wildlife habitat
  • conserve energy
  • improve woodland, pasture and range conditions
  • reduce upsteam flooding

all to protect and enhance the natural resource base.

To do this NRCS inventories and monitors soil, water, and related resource data for land conservation, use, and development. The agency provides guidance of community development, and identification of prime agricultural producing areas that should be protected. NRCS addresses environmental quality protection, and issues periodic inventory reports of resource conditions. Its resource appraisal and program development ensure that the conservation of soil, water, and related resources respond to New Mexico's long-term needs.
